Chef's CornerThe Bread Pudding that put Fonthill on the Map!!
If there's one thing guests will never let us change, it's the bread pudding! Dine in, take out, or pick up frozen at Fonthill Giant Tiger! If you are a baker at heart, we do love to share the recipe....but be warned, it's a big batch!
1 loaf of cubed bread
1 cup raisins
Spread bread in 12 X 20 inch pan
Sprinkle with raisins
10 cups milk
1 2/3 cup sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp vanilla
Mix above ingredients and pour over bread
Bake at 325 for at least 1 hour and 15 minutes (or until knife comes out clean)
Melt 1 pound of butter
4 cups sugar
8 egg yolks
1 cup water
Mix ingredients together
Add butter being careful not to scramble eggs
Cook on medium heat 5-6 minutes until sugar is dissolved and mixture comes to a boil
Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of rye.
